Icon laser treatments take up to an hour of your time, depending on the size of the area being treated. For example, having laser hair removal on your legs will take more time than a facial skin resurfacing treatment.
During your treatment, you recline on a treatment bed wearing protective goggles in the comfortable Premier Wellness offices. Your provider tests the melanin levels in your skin with the Skintel device and adjusts the Icon equipment to deliver the precise laser wavelengths needed for your procedure. They may also provide an ice pack to cool and slightly numb your skin before beginning your treatment.
Then, using a handheld device, your provider directs the laser over your skin. You may notice a flashing light and a warming sensation on your skin. The Icon laser includes a cooling mechanism that both monitors the surface temperature of your skin and delivers a blast of cooling air to keep you comfortable throughout your Icon treatment.
You can get back to most of your regular activities as soon as your Icon laser treatment is complete, although you should avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours following your procedure.
It’s also critical to limit your sun exposure and wear a broad spectrum sunscreen every day. The laser can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, and if you have any excess melanin in your skin, it can interfere with the effectiveness of your treatment or cause unwanted side effects such as discoloration.
